Christmas At Home

This year, like the last several the preceeded it, we spent Christmas at home.  I always enjoy having the whole family at our house to celebrate.  It works out well for Uncle Andrew & Aunt Maggie so that they (and we) could visit her family too.   So, once again I was looking forward to the perfect family Christmas, this year with a toddler who we couldn't wait to see all of the presents and treats on Christmas morning.

Well, I should have learned by now, everything can not always go according to planned.  Christmas eve came with a pretty sick little guy, but he seemed to pep up during Mommy's concert/Christmas eve mass.  All was looking good again.  Until..... we got home and awoke Jackson from his slumber only to have him barfy barf barf barf all over Daddy's new dress coat (Merry Christmas Daddy, enjoy that one on me!)

What followed after that was a frenzy of putting a sick child to bed, worrying, skipping the annual Christmas party that our entire family attends, and then still trying to salvage Christmas by putting together some toys, an easel, stocking stuffing, and getting brunch ready for the next day.  I think I hear sleigh bells coming down the street, good night, off to bed for me.

I woke the next morning with a heart full of optimism.  It lasted for a bit, through the stocking opening, which happened pretty soon after Jackson was up......then he was already ready for a nap, poor guy.  He did get to try out his new easel but presents would have to wait.

This is how the rest of the day went....Nap for Jack, brunch for us, Jack wakes up, I change another *very messy diaper* (these were interspersed for days and went right along with the stomach bug he was experiencing....I need not say any more), we open presents and all Jack wants to do is sit on my lap with his blanket, I change another *diaper*, he goes back down for a second nap and at that point I do too.  I was feeling pretty wiped out already.  I woke up maybe an hour later to a very grumbly, and no not the hungry kind, tummy.  Frank came up to check on me and I instantly yelled for the trash can and.....well all I have to say was a nice Christmas puke was not on my list this year.......

Frank then told me that his mom was also downstairs suffering as I was......OH NO!  I felt horrible, but I had no wherewithal to even move my pinkie finger, let alone go and help her.  Merry Christmas to us!

The positives, we all bonded for a few days, stayed in our pajamas watching movies and laying on couches and laughing about how we couldn't eat anything and I could hardly climb out of my big fuzzy blanket (a present from my wonderful hubby who foresaw EXACTLY what I was going to need that week).

The most disappointing part of the entire "Christmas at home" was that I really didn't take any good pictures.... so I will post a few that I have, wish everyone a belated Merry Christmas, and hope to God that this stomach bug bypasses your house for the new year!
