Obsessed With Skwish!

Jack's personality is really starting to shine through more and more each day! We are seeing his dislikes and likes (and maybe I should say obsessions) too. For instance, there is a toy that was given to Jack by my friend Lauren called the Skwish. She told us that it was her son Milo's favorite toy and they thought we should have one too! Well, this Skwish is definitely a hit in our household. So much in fact that now no other toys will really suffice is the Skwish is in eyesight. I guess I can can say that Jack has a minor obsession for the Skwish and, Frank and I now refer to it as Jack's favorite toy.

A few things about Jack and his Skwish:
If I stand him at his toy box he will always pick out the Skwish
Once he sees the Skwish he MUST have it
He will roll in any direction to obtain the Skwish
If he accidentally drops or throws the Skwish he screams until you give it back to him
Jack's Skwish is constructed very well and surprisingly has no teeth marks
To give Jack's other toys a chance at some fun, Mommy has taken to hiding the Skwish (only on occasion)

Here are some pictures with Jack and his Skwish (and one of him without it):

I guess we owe Lauren and Milo a big thank you for introducing us to this very cool toy!

Welcome Tristan Nathanial Gable!

Welcome to Tristan Nathanial Gable who was born on August 14th, 2009 with tons of black hair and weighing in at 7lbs 14 oz.! We were able to make the trip down to Arlington on Friday and, luckily for us, we arrived right before he was born! After a VERY long and difficult labor, Lauren delivered her beautiful baby boy via c-section. Lauren is a trooper and already an awesome Mommy! We are so excited for Lauren & Dennis who are now the blessed parents of this perfect little boy. Welcome to world baby Tristan. And, oh yeah...., Jackson can't wait to teach his cousin a thing or two!

Goin' Wild In Wildwood

We took our first family beach vacation at Wildwood Crest. Ahhhh the good old Jersey Shore! Even though we only went for 4 days, it was WONDERFUL to take a break from real life. It was even more wonderful because we stayed with the awesome Gerickes' who helped to make that break even truer. Frank, Jack and I got some fun beach time filled with sand, sun and surf. Even though it is a challenge dealing with all 3 of those with a 5 month old (sand in diapers, spf 50, and cold ocean waves) we still had a great time.

Saturday night Kim, Michael, Mike & Sammie decided to watch Jack for us so that Frank and I could have a date night! Our first since Jack was born!!! We walked on the boardwalk enjoyed some pizza and ice cream and rode on the giant Ferris wheel (and by giant I mean MASSIVE). I was a little freaked out by it, it was so high up and the wind was stronger than I have ever felt, but it was a neat memory.

After a very hot and rainy Sunday morning and afternoon it cleared up just enough to make the 20 minute drive to Cape May's beautiful Sunset Beach. As the guys fished and swam, the girls and Jack looked for beach stones and took advantage of the cloudy but eearily beautiful sunset right before the big storm rolled in. Frank called it the lightening storm of the century. Imagine driving through that with a screaming baby in the car....fun. Sorry again, Sammie, for having to endure that car trip!

Thank you to the Gerickes for thier wonderful hospitality, generosity, conversation, good company and fun time. We WILL be back!

yummo = messo

Since Jackson has "cut" his first tooth and has seemed to want to eat round the clock, I thought it might be time to introduce a little bit of rice cereal to see if he liked it and to see if it would help quell his mighty appetite just a little bit! Of course, I had daddy ready, camera in hand, to catch the whole ordeal of his first feeding on video! I'll tell you, for a kid who loves to eat, he was hard to read. He basically went through the whole process expressionless. He didn't seem like he loved it but he certainly didn't cry about it either. This was on Sunday. Fast forward to today (Tuesday) and, although he still eats expressionless, he fusses between spoonfuls as if to say mom I'm ready for more NOW! I couldn't get it in his mouth fast enough! Who'd have ever thought rice cereal with applesauce would be so great (I still don't think so...I tried it). I think I know one black lab who might like to have a vote though.

Great visit with Great Mirriam

Jack's Great Grandma Miriam who is known by all as Great Miriam came all the way from Arizona for a year long visit to P.A.! We were lucky enough to get to spend a day with her to shop for a dress for Andrew and Maggie's wedding, and Jackson got to meet his Great Miriam. The day ended up being rather an adventure. After a bit of car trouble for Grammy and G.M. we managed to drive to P.A. to pick them up, stop and have lunch at the Cheesecake Factory (YUM), drive back to Jersey, get a rental car, stop at home where daddy was making the best tomato sauce ever (YUMMY) go shopping for a dress for the wedding for G.M., pick up some grocery items at Wegmans, and then finally home and to bed! Although it was a jam-packed crazy day, we got everything accomplished that we need to and we got to spend time with Grammy and Great Miriam (who looks great in her new dress!)

On a Roll

Last week Jack rolled over for the first time by himself! Hooray!!!! Dziadzi was in town for a visit on his birthday to go to the Phillies game with Frank and Jack decided to help him celebrate by rolling over! We had been waiting for this for awhile. It seems like he was on the verge of rolling for weeks. He could get most of the way over and you could just nudge his little bottom with your pinky and he would flip. Well nudge no longer he is now officially a roller! I am posting the video from the first day of rolling and one from this week.

As you can see he is now a pro (at rolling to the right)

Here are some more pics from Dziadzi's visit
